All attendees of training courses with MaartensPRO Training will receive an attendance certificate which will include the CPD points allocated to the training course

Training courses are also available at your place of work. It is highly recommended that a facility be available that is conducive to training.

Background

As you might know legislation is on its way to force all professionals to register with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and the South African Council for the Built Environment (SACBE) in order for them to be able to continue working as professionals in South Africa. These professionals are:

  • Professional Engineers

  • Technologists

  • Technicians and

  • Certified Engineers

Another drive has already started world – wide to ensure that professionals remain up to date within their fields of business. South Africa has also embarked on this program of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in which professionals are required to obtain a minimum amount of CPD points within a certain period of time in order to remain certificated with ECSA.

CPD

CPD is defined as the “systematic maintenance, improving and broadening of knowledge and skills, and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional and technical duties throughout an engineer’s career” – Electricity and Control April 2007

As of 1 January 2006 the Engineering Council of South Africa has made the rules in relation to continuing professional development as per the Profession Act, 2000 (Act No 46 of 2000), and in relation to renewal of registration as contemplated in section 22(2) of that Act.

CPD & Renewal of Registration Rules 23 Dec 2005.pdf

This has made it necessary for the Engineers, Technologists, Technicians and Certified Engineers to update their knowledge on na continual basis in order to remain recognized as a professional, not just inside of South Africa, but world wide.

“This is not a system designed by administrators. It was created by a team of engineers for engineers” – Johan Pienaar, the manager of registration at ECSA

"Many people have the notion that SAIMC or ECSA is enforcing this. But this is not the case whatsoever. It’s our profession that is enforcing this on us” – Professor Lacquet

CPD evidence can take the form of:

  • A summary of diary records.

  • Course/seminar enrolment records.

  • Receipts.

  • Certificates.

  • Attendance lists.

  • Assessment reports.

  • Employer reports.

  • Statutory declarations.

Our Services

Professional people are finding it difficult to complete the administration and arrange the necessary activities for them to remain certificated with ECSA. We have therefore decided to embark on a duel – pronged approach in which we can assist professional people to remain certificated:

  • Provide relevant training courses for them to remain in-date

  • Provide the administration facilities for those professionals who have obtained at least 3 CPD points through our training workshops. This includes making sure that the information is logged with ECSA and that each professional is reminded of activities they have to complete that will ensure that they remain in – date.

  • Provide consultancy services and on-site training to meet your company’s unique requirements

As a company that has professional people on their staff we have seen the administration burden and lack of training opportunities in especially remote areas. Our purpose is to eliminate these burdens and let our professional people carry on with what they love – doing real work.

We offer the following courses:

  • Project Management (Basic and Advanced)

  • Quality Management for Professionals (ISO 9001:2000)

  • Process- and Risk Management to cater for Internal Controls including Sarbanes Oxley requirements

We do customized site courses as well as setting up a Project Office geared to your specific needs.
