Starting with the business requirements a decision needs to be made as to which international standards will contribute most to achieving the business objectives. The investigating phase should include the certification standards (if required) but, most of all,  aligning the above requirements with the business requirements in order to be of maximum benefit for the business.

A Balanced Scorecard is a useful tool that can be used by the business to ensure that all these requirements are controlled on a regular basis.
