EvangelistMeaning euaggelistes = a preacher of the gospel An evangelist is somebody that brings the Good News. This is normally seen in the church today as a person who delivers the message to people who have never heard it before, bringing many people to Christ. If we look at the Great Commission, are we then all evangelists? Although we all evangelize, only some people are called to use this calling to train other people in getting them ready for their ministries. Remember the call of the five-fold ministers. Many people think that an evangelist has some special gifts, especially in the area of healing. This is deducted from the fact that so many people are healed in the services of an evangelist. But healings are part of the ministry of every elder. Elders should know and understand that God wants everybody healed, that Jesus paid the price for that and therefore healing is just a part of preaching as what the words in the sermons are.
